Dunphy Communications was founded by Mark Dunphy who has over 20 years experience working in the public and private communications sectors as a journalist, communications officer and public relations consultant.
As a graduate of Media & Communications, Mark Dunphy began his career as a journalist in Clare FM in 1999 where he was appointed Head of News and Current Affairs in 2005.
In 2006, Mark established Dunphy Public Relations (DPR) which specialised in securing broadcast, print and online media coverage for clients across a wide range of sectors. DPR clients included Clare County Council, Limerick City & County Council, Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience, Mid West Regional Authority, The Armada Hotel, Hotel Doolin, Foynes Flying Boat Museum, Caring for Carers Ireland, Burren Smokehouse, Irish Chief Fire Officers Association and Clare Tourism. PR projects managed by DPR included the visit of Muhammad Ali to Ennis and the opening of the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience.
During this time, Mark established and oversaw the operation of two online businesses, namely The Clare Herald and Irish Weather Online. Both businesses were subsequently sold.
Mark was appointed Head of Communications for Clare County Council in 2016. Leading a communications team, Mark oversaw a wide range of communications activities from social and digital media management, event management (Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Ennis and the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in Lahinch), severe weather crisis management (Storm Ophelia and Storm Emma), media training and advice, and the PR launch of a number of projects and initiatives (Lough Derg Blueway, LIT Campus in Ennis, Clare Digital Hubs, Christmas in Ennis, St. Patrick’s Day Festival, Heritage Week, Clare Community Awards, Make Way Day, Live coverage of the Clare Election, Healthy Clare, Enterprise Week and Ireland’s first Rural Development Strategy.
Mark returned to PR and Communications consultancy in 2020 when he established Dunphy Communications. Clients include The Cliffs of Moher Experience, Shannon Heritage, Clare County Council, Visit Clare, Foynes Flying Boat Museum, University Concert Hall Limerick, Vandeleur Walled Gardens and Visitor Experience, Michael Cusack Centre, St. Flannan’s College, Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau, The Outing, Galway County Council, Irish Natural Stone, Diocese of Killaloe, Loop Head Lighthouse Experience, and the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark. Mark also ran PR and Communications for IFA President Francie Gorman during his successful 2023 election campaign.
